In Slow Time
This quilt, Adagio, was designed for 2003 Houston Quilt Market to be displayed at Andover Fabrics and the pattern was published subsequently. The sad thing was I only got the quilt top fused for Quilt Market in Houston that year, and never actually started quilting it, leave alone finishing it. If I can remember correctly a quarter of the quilt top has approximately 450 appliqué pieces, and I was hoping that I might be able to machine appliqué and machine quilt it, on my domestic machine. Wrong! I could not feed the in the quilt top without having to squish the bulk of the fabric into the machine's small throat. My attempt to satin stitch the appliqué pieces got thrown out the window, and the quilt top got put away for 13 years.
Recently I decided that I was going to, at least try to, complete some of my UFOs from my previous life, my life as a designer of Lotusland's Patterns. At least, on my Lenni, I will be able to stitch down the multitude of fused appliqué pieces and quilt at the same time.
